Have you talked to your carrier lately about cell phone insurance?
Cell phone insurance by cell phone carriers You can get your cell phone insured by signing an contract with a cell phone insurance company. Most insurance contracts work the same way – the client pays a set amount every month, and after a time he can file an insurance claim if he loses his property under circumstances covered by the insurance. Same is true with cell phone insurance.
But cell phone insurance companies aren't the only ones that provide insurance for cell phones. At least not anymore. You can also get your cell phones insured through their provider.
Verizon Wireless, a US-based telecommunications company, offer insurance policies to clients for using their services. But in Verizon's case, the company doesn't work alone. Verizon Wireless and cell phone insurance company Asurion work hand-in-hand to ensure that Verizon's customers and their cell phones are protected from theft and other incidents.
Asurion and Verizon cell phone insurance services Your cell phone unit is automatically covered by Asurion's cell phone insurance policy as soon as you get it from Verizon.
From here onwards you will have to maintain a charge of $5.99 (or higher depending on the cell phone model) per month, and an additional $50 deductible once you decide to file your insurance claim. This $50 fee is non-refundable. Once Asurion has verified your claims as valid, they will send you a refurbished cell phone as replacement. This applies to covered cell phone accessories, too.
Other providers—Cingular, AT&T, etc.—provide similar insurance options. Not just Verizon Wireless. So before you sign up, ask first if their policies include insurance coverage, to help you decide better if you still want their services or not. Insuring your cell phone with the same company that gave it to you goes a long way.
